STRATA Body (Spa & Salon) Massage Therapist


Job Summary:

Massage Therapists administer professional massage, body treatments, and additional spa service recommendations to assist in the development growth of spa engagement and revenue sales. Prospective candidates improve guests' health and comfort by massaging the sore, tense, and injured areas of the body, and communicate with the guests to provide the specific attention to determine the source of discomfort for optimal restoration and relaxation.  Prospective candidates are passionate about the healing power of touch and have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments, and are adaptable to train and deliver in our spa's specific facial treatment offerings, signature property services, and standards.  Prospective candidates must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet guest needs.  Prospective candidates must hold and maintain a current Colorado state license to perform massages.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality massage and body treatment services that address muscle, body, and tension concerns.
  • Massage soft body tissues to relieve discomfort and provide treatment for injury and / or well maintenance.
  • Apply pressure to specific parts of the body with hands and fingers to release muscle tension and bring relief.
  • Gather guest medical history to proceed with treatments and services accordingly.
  • Advise guests and suggest service recommendations by analyzing guest needs and medical history.
  • Discuss guest concerns, medical histories, and specific stresses to develop the most effective approach.
  • Perform consultations regarding services and recommended treatments, including frequency and products.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans for guests that specific massage type, treatment area, and frequency.
  • Accurately maintain and update guest records.
  • Arrival promptly for shift and each appointment and perform services within the time allotted for the service.
  • Maintain consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Properly open and close each shift according to SOPs; transport guest in spa facilities pre- and post- service.
  • Provide consistent professional body treatments aligned with protocols and accepted certification practices.
  • Accurately perform services as booked by the guest; inform Concierge Team if a service is changed.
  • Be flexible with schedule, supporting the needs of the spa.
  • Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
  • Have complete knowledge and proficiency of services and products while educating guests in these areas.
  • Actively promote returning services and wellness integration offerings.
  • Effectively inform and educate guests about specific Wellness integrations, concerns and contraindications.
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa's policies and procedures.
  • Perform prep work and properly clean and restock room as required.
  • Ensure adequate stock of supplies (linen management) and equipment; inform when stock is low.
  • Communicate to management all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality in all guest matters in accordance with company policy.
  • Develop professional and personalized relationship with regular guests; build strong and loyal clientele.
  • Actively promote all Wellness treatments, services, retail, programs, and promotions.
  • Provide accurate details of treatments, packages, services, treatment contraindications, facility, and hours.
  • Handle guests' questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by guests - ensuring satisfaction.
  • Communicate to management all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Utilize spa computers with skill and proficiency; document guest information in electronic record.
  • Possess ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
  • Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.


Education and Position Requirements: 

  • Must hold and maintain a current Colorado state license to perform massage.
  • Adhere to all current regulations and laws related to massage therapy.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the body, massage technique, and overall guest service.
  • Must have excellent current massage treatment practices and techniques.
  • Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be a team player.


Language Skills:

  • Excellent command of the English language in communicating both verbally and non-verbally.
  • Ability to produce educational materials for guests, including products, home routines, and retail offerings.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from personnel, guests, and public.


Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram format.
  • Ability to handle conflicting ideas related to differing skin care approaches and communicated diplomatically.
  • Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipatory service.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must display good listening skills to understand and clarify items discussed by guests and Team Members.
